Our family of four just recently decided to spend a day indoors. It was humid and cloudy, there was a promise of rain, and the two macaronis wanted to do something fun. Crayola Experience Orlando came to our rescue and gifted us 4 tickets. I was worried at first that our boys were too old for this experience, but the boys watched some of the YouTube videos and were really excited to go. It turns out that this interactive creative experience caters to kids aged 2-12.
You can find your special deal tickets on CertifiKID Deal. We checked for the opening and closing times to ensure we wouldn't have to rush through all of the areas. It was recommended to take about 4 hours for a whole rush-free experience. We wanted those kiddos entertained for the day, while not worrying about the food and drinks.
We first turned on the 'adventure mode' from the highway towards the Florida Mall and challenged the boys to spot the Crayola building and direct us to it once they saw it. Done in a splash! You can't miss the building with its recognizable Crayola decor and inviting colors.
We already had the tickets on the phone, which meant no waiting in line! We headed straight to the entry on the left, where we collected our goodie bags with some tokens and a cute Scribble Scrubby that you can color and wash over and over again.
Our first stop was the 'Wrap it Up' area, where we used the first tokens to wrap & name our own crayons.
Next, we headed toward the 'Be a Star' - a green screen area where the macaronis pose to have their picture turned into a coloring page with various set-ups to choose from. We all enjoyed this area a lot and brought home funny coloring pages.
We were just in time to attend the 'Crayon Factory' presentation where you can learn about the history of Crayola and watch a demo of how the crayons are made.
Next up were the 'Drip Art' and 'Melt and Mold' stations, where the employees assisted us in melting wax art and creating melted wax emojis. The kids loved observing the entire process and were proud of the creations they got to bring home.
We skipped the Colossal Caddy station, where you can color away with an enormous selection of crayons and coloring pages. But that was because the kiddos ran toward the play areas. They loved burning off some of their extra energy at the Color Playground, which is for kids up to 12 years old. But no worries, there are two more sections for the littles - 'Toddler Town' playground and 'Scribble Square' (where you get to color the walls and the floors without getting yourself into trouble!).
A stop at the Snack Shack was a must because all that running around the play structure really got the kids thirsty. Later on, we also stopped by the Café Crayola for some kid-approved snacks and free same-day refills to our drinks (the same applies to popcorn!).
I did mention we took it slow and had plenty of time to visit some more areas, such as 'Stomp and Play,' 'Rainbow Rain' - the kids show up on a large screen that pours down colors, the 'Adventure Lab' - where you try to complete your missions on time. Challenging but still fun.
Another fun activity was 'You Design' - where you can color in your coloring sheets, have them scanned and create your movable fashion show, or cars doing 'donuts' right on the screens above you. The boys couldn't get enough of those animations!
To cool down before we left, we ended our color-themed fun at the 'Modeling Madness, where we used up the second token to purchase the modeling clay. There are plenty of tables and tools to create something really special.
.
As we headed toward the exit, we visited the Crayola Store, where you can top up on any missing crayons, markers, and other art supplies, and memorabilia. One part of the store exits inside of the Florida Mall.
We had fun! All four of us. And this Macaroni Mama went home with happy boys, without needing to set up the materials or clean up after all the melting wax and coloring experiences were done. We will be back!
But next time, we upgrade our tickets to annual passes, as you also get discounts for their Birthday Party Packages.
