My four-year-old daughter first got excited about soccer last year, when she played on a nearby team and was able to attend some Orlando Pride Soccer Games, where she got to meet Marta and Kylie Strom after a couple of games! I also realized that at such a young age, I really wanted her to learn more about the skills of learning the game, along with team work, listening to a coach, following directions and how to interact on and off the field in a positive manner. With some criteria in mind that fit my family, I found Super Soccer Stars Orlando.
My daughter is playing on a 3-4 year old team and my niece is playing on the 7-10 year old team. There are a variety of options for days, times and locations. There are soccer options, along with a multi-sport option. This session is eight weeks long.
After three weeks of soccer, my daughter and eight-year-old niece are really enjoying it. Both of them have shown tremendous improvements already! When I asked my niece what she liked, having her friend be able to join her was a highlight! Now, both of them are learning together, listening to the coach, trying new things and having a great time.
During my daughter's latest practice, Coach Brooke introduced a whole beach themed line up of drills. The kids all loved it! Even my ten-year-old niece watching said what a cute idea it was. There were about four or five drills that built one upon another. My daughter was dribbling the ball, holding the ball with her feet, working on ball control among other skills. Today, as my daughter and I were playing in our own yard, she replicated the beach themed drills and was teaching me what to do! As an educator with 18+ years of experience, I do know it's a great sign when the students can teach what they are learning.
At the beginning and end of each practice, they sing such a cute song to warm up. I'll occasionally hear my daughter sing it throughout the week.
Practices are once a week. The coaches relate well to the kids and keep it positive when redirecting. The kids are spending the majority of the time learning skills and then the last part of practice is spent scrimmaging. The groups are small, so each child is getting plenty of time to get their feet on the ball.
