Are you an Orange County Library card holder? If not, you're missing out on a lot of FREE services that are offered!
My top favorite one is the Beanstack. You can sign up as a family or individually and chances are, if your child is in OCPS, they are using it as a student account.
What is Beanstack?
- It is a website/app where you can log your reading in minutes and by book.
- There are challenges that you/your child can participate in that earn virtual badges.
- My daughter is currently in the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Challenge. For every 200 books, she has earned a small prize along the way.
- My nieces are in the Sunshine State Books Challenge. For each SSYRA book they read, they can enter the information.
- Additional challenges pop up each month and some are tied to Orange County Public Schools' student accounts.
- Check the site on May 1, as the Summer Reading Challenge will be loaded!
Why use Beanstack?
- This is a fun way to track reading and learn about some new recommendations.
- You can work on writing skills by entering a book review.
- It can be used as a goal setting tool, where your child sets a goal and can have the satisfaction of reaching it.
- Within the challenges, you can learn about additional resources the library has to offer, like hoolpa.
- Orange County Public Schools are tallying their school minutes - help your school climb the charts!
