This Frozen Custard and Ice Cream Guide is sponsored by Culver's of Winter Garden. A family favorite of ours for frozen custard and food. Check out why in the list below!
Back in 1937, National Milk Month was created to promote the consumption of milk. Now known as Dairy Month, June is a month to celebrate ways the dairy industry contributes to the foods, drinks and treats we eat. If you follow me on social media, you might notice that custard and ice cream is a family favorite treat. I wanted to share my Top Picks with you!
Also, I'd love for you to subscribe to our free weekly newsletter, packed with local family events and information about local businesses.
Top Places for Frozen Custard
Frozen Custard is thicker than ice cream. One difference is that custard includes egg yolks in the ingredient list and another difference is how it is made. Therefore, I will share a list for each!
1. Culver's of Winter Garden
What we love: The daily rotation of custard flavors, the Kid's Meal options (and being able to get broccoli instead of fries), their burgers and food in general. The staff is always so friendly too and we enjoy sitting inside or on their covered patio. If you like soda, check out their fountain options. Save a little money by getting the family sized fries - it's enough for the whole family! Culver's originated in Wisconsin, and while we were on a road trip in that state, we asked locals for ice cream recommendations. All we heard was go to Culver's! So we did. It wasn't the original location, but we were happy to say we ate in the state Culver's came from!
Favorites: Mint Avalanche, Mint Oreo, Oreo Overload, and concretes.
Tip to know: Sign up for the email list and get news of daily flavors and inquire at the restaurant for their latest Happy Hour deals.
2. Abbott's Frozen Custard in Hamlin
What we love: The daily rotation of flavors, the pints available for purchase in the freezer and the cake/pie options.

The following ice cream establishments all make their own ice cream, which was a requirement for being on this list.

For A Longer Drive
Going on a road trip in Florida? Check out some of our family favorites we've discovered on our adventures around our state.
Jaxson's Ice Cream Parlor in Dania Beach
Growing up in South FL, we frequented this local favorite for many celebrations. All their ice cream is made in house. If you have a big group, order a kitchen sink - they claim to be the originator of it!
Carvel
Besides the counter location at Orlando Airport, this frozen ice cream gem is hard to find now. Back in the day, they started the BOGO sundae idea and it is still around every Wednesday. You can still buy their cakes in Publix though!
Del Freez in Melbourne
A family-owned local favorite, I really like their peanut butter soft serve. Only cash is accepted and the line can sometimes be long!
321 Ice Cream Bar in Melbourne
They buy their ice cream from a locally sourced company, but what we really liked was the flight with unlimited toppings! We thought this place had such a fun concept!
Neighbors Ice Cream Parlor in Port Orange
We discovered this family-owned local spot and absolutely loved their creative ice cream flavors. They change often, so if you see one you like, get it!
Hampton Chocolate Factory in Tampa
We were in awe at their giant ice cream cones shared on social media - so we had to try it when we were in Tampa. We got small cones and they were definitely tasty. We want to go back and try their waffle creations.
