This week's Where in West Orange (WIWO) took us to a very special event—the McKey Street Centennial Mural Reveal in downtown Ocoee! If you guessed correctly, congratulations! Now, let's dive into the details of this stunning new addition to the community.

A Celebration of Ocoee’s Heritage

On Tuesday, February 4, the City of Ocoee hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony to unveil its first-ever mural. Located at 116 West McKey Street, this vibrant work of art was painted by Christian Stanley, a Central Florida-based artist and University of Central Florida graduate. Covering approximately 1,200 square feet on the historic Marshall Block Building, the mural beautifully captures Ocoee’s rich history and natural beauty.

The artwork pays tribute to Ocoee’s agricultural roots, features iconic landmarks such as the Withers-Maguire House and Starke Lake, and incorporates other key elements that reflect the city’s cultural and environmental legacy.

Community Comes Together

The event drew residents and visitors alike, eager to celebrate this milestone. Attendees had the chance to meet the artist behind the masterpiece, enjoy some yummy eats from The Ocoee Taco Co and DG Doughnuts, and take in the impressive mural up close.

For those who missed the reveal, don’t worry! The mural is a permanent fixture in downtown Ocoee, offering a perfect photo opportunity and a chance to appreciate the city’s history through art.
